Offical DRC logo and deadline for DRC1

Today I just want let you to know, that I decided the deadline for the DRC1 entries. The deadline date is set now on december 7th, 2008. All entries after this date will be released on DRC2. I aim the release for DRC2 in mid of summer 2009. The most bands who are on the Coming soon page, I always had informed about the deadline. I received many positve emails back. So I can promise, that there will be come some more entries until deadline.

I’ll take at least 2 weeks to finish tracklist and artwork. When nothing terrible happens, the first compilation will be released before christmas. A dream started in summer 2008 becomes true.

Also I’ll proudly present you the final logo for DRC. This is only the rough scretch, but actually I like this dirty version of the logo. I really like the idea of building a ‘rock star’ with the small letters of ‘drc’. Later I’ll vectorize it and do also a 3D logo from it. I planned to integrate the logo in the site design. But this has actually no priority for me.

Nearly I forget to tell you, that I’ll give you an update after the deadline. This update will tell you the final tracklist of DRC1. That’s all for now.

Rock on.

DRC1 Artworks

Today I’ll proudly present you the final cover artwork for the first DRC compilation. I really like the composition of photo, 3D and handwritten design.

Final cover artwork for DRC1

Before I had finished this final cover artwork, I had done a couple of artworks that really sucks. I had tried to make a mixture between typical “DM Artwork” and “Heavy Metal Design”, but at least it won’t work this way. The mistakes I had done, I won’t hold them back to show you.

Title: DRC1 in Policy Of Truth style

I really like the cover artworks in the early 90′s from Anton Corbijn. This one is a homage to the artwork of Policy Of Truth, but instead of a naked girl, I want to use a girl in a rock pose. The special gag on this cover was the 90° rotation of the artwork. Today I really hate this artwork.

Title: Mr. Featherman rocks

Yeah, that was a kind of a cool idea. Doing a Featherman like the one on Playing The Angel, but he should be headbanging and his hand shows the “fries fork”. It was a lot of work, on searching feathers in the internet. Cut the feathers out of pictures to position them freely. For what? For nothing! The result is an artwork that really looks ugly.

Horst Tappert Band – A Question Of Time

Genre: Rock
Location: Hungary

They look like an american hardcore band, but these guys are cops from Hungary. No kidding, really! The funny band name Horst Tappert Band comes from the german actor Horst Tappert (Derrick). And they rock DRC with a cover version of A Question Of Time. It’s only a edit version, but with a big potential. Maybe on DRC Vol.2 they had a cool studio version. You’re welcome guys.

So, we don‘t have a long bio, we started the band on 2007. august, we made our first demo probably a month ago, but we work on it right now, the demo will be out on january, 2009, maybe. We don‘t have enough money to make the perfect sound, if you now somebody, who can master our coversong perfectly, and free, please email me, I‘ll send him (or her) the tracks and the waves of the song.

Our guitarist told you once, that all of the band members are police detectives in Hungary, it‘s not a joke, we are protecting and serving the society. We don‘t have enough time for a 24/7 band, because of our work, we make music only for fun.

Band members:
Peter Szasz ‚Titusz‘ – lead guitar, vocals
Janos Biro ‚Brainstorm‘ – bass
Gabor Gyori ‚gameboy‘ – drums
Norbert Csaszar ‚gnome‘ – guitar
Zoltan Potorke ‚zete‘ – lead vocals

Rotten Tomatoes Feat. Queue – Just Can’t Get Enough

Genre: Punk Rock
Location: Hungary

I love Punk Rock. I love these guys, because they don’t take themselfs to seriously. And it’s the first collaboration from two bands. Rotten Tomatoes feat. Queue are on DRC with Just Can’t Get Enough.

The band was formed in a little city in Western Hungary, in the middle of the `90s by 3 guys from high-school, who could not play on their own instruments, but  they wanted to be rockstars. And they did it!

No, the story is not that simple.
After a few years of playin’ together and a few huge shows, the bandmates moved to the capital of Hungary. They were not focusing 100% on the band anymore, they were just partying, and everyone was doing his own stuff. And even their backline, and some instruments were also stolen. So, after a few years pause the mates decided to do something again. They recorded a 6 tracks demo from the old songs, and had a few shows, something’s begun. In 2007 another guitar player joined the band, to catch up the live sound.

Now, in 2008 the band is still on the road, made a video to one of their summer hit songs (can be watched on their MySpace), doing shows across the region, writing songs for their’ next album.

By the way they like doing cover versions of `80s, `90s disco and pop songs, and that’s why Rotten Tomatoes is here with the cover of DM’s Just Can’t Get Enough featuring Queue, the vocalist from the hungarian DM tribute band, named DaMage (http://damage.dm). Enjoy, and comment it on our page. Cheers!

The band is:
Cseri Rotten (guitars, vocals, drinkin’)
Feri Rotten (drinkin’, guitars)
Pai Rotten (bass, vocals, drinkin’)
Sundi Rotten (drums, drinkin’)

Doomica – Enjoy The Silence

Genre: Gothic Rock
Location: Portugal

A great cover version from Europe’s West Coast. Doomica supports DRC with their interpretation of Enjoy The Silence.

Doomica is a portuguese goth rock band, which originally started out when 2 friends (Olivier Bergs and Miguel Santos) got together for a jam session after school. At the time neither of them had a band or any musical training, while atempting to cover Anathema‘s „sleepless“ a passion for music was born and the 2 decided to further investigate their curiosity for music and bands within the genre.

As time went by, they decide to take the next step and write some original material such as „Get Out Of My Head“, „Can‘t You See?“ and „Defiled“. after completing the songs, a few members were added to the band. Gabriel Anjos was added as second guitarrist, Bjazz as bass player, and last but not least Pedro Amores as drummer. It was then that Doomica was born. Originally starting out as a gothic rock band they adapted their style a little and created their own kind of sound.

„Doomica“ is currently seeking representation and/or gigs

Bandmembers are:
Olivier Bergs – silent prayers coming from within darkness (vocals)
Miguel Santos – screeching of haunted souls (lead guitar)
Gabriel Oliveira – storms from beyond the gates of hell (guitar)

Chrisallys – Sister Of Night

Genre: Gothic Metal
Location: Argentina

First entry from Argentina. Chrisallys plays a cool very dark version of Sister Of Night. On this point I especially want to thank Billy from the Chrisallys. You rock!

CHRISALLYS was born in earlies 2003 as a union between BILLY SMK (vocalist, songwriter) from former band, SKINMASK, and MARTIN ADOLFI (guitars, keyborads and programming), with a big influences of 80s Darkwave Gothic bands such as, The Sisters of Mercy and The Mission Uk, but with Metal and Industrial turns, with a fresh and personal sound.

In 2004 CHRISALLYS releases their first album, „ReBorn“, in Argenitina, with Twilight Records, featuring many guest musicians From LAMIA, and ANIMAL. The album had real good reviews from the local and international press. Had supported Hocico in their first show in Argentina, and had been interviewed by Brunno Kramm, to participate in the documentary DVD, HARMONIA MUNDI, to be playes in the WAVE GOTHIK TREFFEN Festival in Germany and have played many gigs all over Argentina.

Lineout – Nothing’s Impossible

Genre: Electronic Rock
Location: Germany

Also on DRC Vol.1 a cool electronic rock version of Nothing’s Impossible from Lineout. A band located in Madgeburg.

The trio from Magdeburg presents its new Longplayer after 2 years from abstinence of the stage and intensive studio work „Rise OF the Phoenix “. The album is stamped by the different musical influences of the three musicians, by Synthie Pop, Electro over classical Rock elements up to decent Metal influences. Eleven of song of full emotions, driving Beats, crashing sounds of guitar paired with modern synthies and sequencers.

In the year 2001 the band experienced songwriter and guitarist Daniel looked for a marked voice for a new music project in its new homeland Magdeburg. More than only that he found in Karsten, which was in the search for a new musical challenge. When Dominic gets in the band in 2003, the missing piece of puzzle for ideal occupation was found. Lineout describes their sound as „darkly breathed on“ Electro Rock, which cannot be put so easily into any drawers.

The band members of Lineout are, Karsten Christian (singing), Daniel Ahrens (guitar, programming) and Dominic Lübbecke (guitar, synths).

Rates Of Exchange – Useless

Genre: Independent
Location: Russia

A young talented band named Rates Of Exchange doing a nice cover version of Useless. It’s a good live version, but I hope that Ilya and his band send me sometime a better studio version. Winken

Rates of Exchange is an indie band from Moscow. It was formed in 2001, in the melancholy of post-communist urban landscape. The style comes from the reneissance of neo-romantic electronic music of 80′s and british guitar pop-rock of nineties. The name for the band is originally taken from Malcolm Bradbury’s novel (1983) about fantastic travelling across non-existent socialist country in Eastern Europe.

This cover of Useless was performed in Justo club in the july of 2006. Super model Natalia Vodianova was one of the people in the front row who witnessed this concert alive – this actually had a big influence on the way ‘rates’ performed this song.

The band members are:
ILYA – vocals, guitars, synths
ALEX – keys, synths and vocals
TIM – bass guitar, bass amp, effect pedals for bass guitar, tuner, instrument cables and hardcore screwing
ARTËM – drums and percussion
